  My name is Francesca Pastore, I am an artist, painter, sculptor and ceramist who lives in central Italy in the Sabina Mountains, 4km from Cottanello. Here I have my house and studio. I also have 2 independent bungalows that are available for B’n'B rental. My goal is to create an ambient, artistic retreat for visitors to relax and enjoy the beauty of the region.

The Casa d’Artista is one of the stops for the Rieti – Rome route facilitated by On Foot Holidays. After a days walk and picnic in the Sabina mountains guests arrive at Francesca’s and relax with a refreshing beer or wine. As part of the tour package guests receive a dinner of seasonal specialities – featuring fresh pasta, regional olive oil and local wine. A generous breakfast includes yoghurt, bread, jam, butter, tea and coffee. *For those staying overnight with OnFoot walking tours dinner & breakfast is provided in the dining room of the main house.

The two apartments are fully self-contained, have comfortable beds and central heating for winter! There property is nestled in the Sabina mountains on a very large block with no other houses nearby. There is an above ground pool with outdoor seating under large shady trees. Francesca also has her artist studio on the property, ask for a tour. For music lovers there is the possibility of using the upright piano in the main dining room…

CASA ‘SOPRA’ an independent apartment that has 3 bedrooms: a double, 2 singles that can be put together as a double and a third room with bunk beds. Two bathrooms, shower and toilet in each. The living area is fully self-contained with kitchen / dining facilities including a large wood stove, a gas cooker, full size fridge w. freezer, kitchen area, dining table that seats 6 and a couple of arm chairs. One television. Cutlery, pots, pans & linen provided.

CASA ‘SOTTO’ is an independent apartment located on the bottom story of the main house. 2 bedrooms that can be made up with either double or single beds. An extra single bed is available in the main bedroom. One bathroom with shower & toilet. A kitchen, lounge area with fridge, gas cooker, kitchen, sofa (can be made into a sofa bed). One television.

Oppure con auto propria: dall’autostrada A1 Roma-Firenze uscita Fiano Romano, raccordo fino a Passo Corese poi ss 313 ‘Ternana” fino al bivio per Roccantica girare a destra proseguire sempre dritto fino cartello Montatola Cottanello direzione Rieti su via Fontecerro, dopo località Piane a 800mt sulla destra siete arrivati.

 From Rome take the metropolitan train Fiumicino Airport-Fara Sabina to Poggio Mirteto station, then the bus to Rieti via Cottanello. Or by car: motorway A1 Roma-Firenze to the Passo Corese, Fara Sabina exit. Take the road towards Rieti, Salaria, then straight away the ss 313 Ternana to the left. Continue until the 28.8 km sign, then turn right for Montasola. Turn left at the next t-junction, go past the turn off for Montasola and continue on until the turn off for Cottanello and Rieti on the right. Pass by the village and continue for three kilometres to Località Piane. 800mt further on you will find us on the right.

  Da vedere a pochi chilometri… Eremo di San Cataldo, la Cava del marmo rosa di Cottanello, le Cascate delle Marmore, gli splendidi Paesi medievali, i siti archeologici – la Villa Romana di Cottanello, il Monte Terminillo, Leoness, i Santuari Francescani della Valle Santa Reatina… e molto altro…

Attività: itinerari naturalistici, passeggiate a cavallo, corsi di pittura e ceramica. Piscina, mountainbike e degustazione dei piatti tipici sabini. Posto all’interno per automobili e biciclette. Cani e gatti sono benvenuti.

  Activities: In beautiful woodland, 730 metres (2,400 ft.) above sea level, you can spend a weekend relaxing surrounded by nature. It is the ideal staring point for walks into the mountains. You can learn to paint or create sculptures and ceramics. Visit nearby medieval villages or go hiking.  The Casa d’Artista has a swimming pool, a wonderful place to relax after a days walk.

Workshops / Corsi

  The studio is situated at the centre of the “Borgo” with two kilns and all the necessary equipment for you to give space to your creativity.

  Il laboratorio è sul piazzale del borgo, perfettamente attrezzato per fare varie attività artistiche con due forni per ceramica e tutto l’occorrente per dare spazio alla creatività.  I corsi possono essere di due giorni, una settimana e continuativi a seconda delle esigenze individuali.
